We visit Jerome

We had a great day yesterday. First we took Charley to the groomer to make him white again. Then it was off for the obligatory Walmart stop. Then we took a ride to Clarkdale just a few miles on to the west and to the Verde Canyon train depot. The train was just leaving at 1 PM on its 4 hour run up the canyon and back. We made reservations for Monday afternoon. Looks like the weather wont cooperate this weekend. Next we went up US89A to Jerome. This was a huge copper mining town that turned into a ghost town when the mine closed. Hippies found it in the '60's and turned a lot of beautiful buildings into art galleries that remain to this day. The views from Jerome are spectacular with the red rock hills lining the Verde river valley. We'll probably return once more before we leave here.

Quite a view of the Verde Valley

This is the Arizona Snowbowl north of Flagstaff about 60 miles away.
